Toyota Gazoo Racing is debuted for 2021 Hypercar

Toyota first released the teaser of its GR Super Sport concept last year. It is inspired by the Le Mans-Wining TSO50 LMP1 prototype. After that Toyota declared that they are bringing this concept car into production, and finally today, the company has released its new GR Super Sport hypercar that is the 2021 Toyota GR010 Hybrid.

This hypercar is built for the Le Mans Hypercar(LMH) regulations. The 2021 Toyota GR010 Hybrid is a rad 670-horsepower creature. Toyota will produce 20 road-legal variants as per the rule of racing series regulations, they set the limit to just 500 KW that is 672 hp.

2021 GR010 Hybrid is powered with 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 internal combustion engine to produce 671 hp to the rear wheels. GR has also got another 268-hp electric motor-generator unit. Under the rule the company has to limit the hp to 671 that’s why they reduce the engine power of Hybrid’s electronic system.

Toyota has killed the record of winning  24 Hours of Le Mans three races in the past years. However, Audi and Porsche quit with their hybrid LMP1 cars, this is the reason Toyota is getting low competition as expected by the company. Following the regulations, Toyota is now aiming for cost-cutting.

Also, the all-new GR010 Hybrid is 357 pounds heavier and got 32 percent less power than its predecessor TS050 Hybrid. Racing lap times is also put down 10 seconds slower than other LMP1 cars, and this Hypercar is bigger than its predecessors, it is 10 inches longer, 4 inches taller and 4 inches wider.

The GR010 is available with a starter motor because of the absence of a motor-generator unit on its rear axle. The car is only allowed for a single homologated bodywork package with one adjustable aerodynamic device, which means there will be no Le Mans low-downforce kit.

Customers who are planning to buy the road-going variant will find this car more powerful than its racing variant. This is the ninth season of Toyota at WEC, the season will limit the 1000 miles of Sebring on March 19. We are looking forward to seeing this new car compete.
